Description
A hearth-baked loaf made with La Brea Bakery starter. The flavor profile is that of a French bread made with a small quantity of levain, which creates the mild taste of long natural fermentation. The bread is oval shaped (flat on the side where it is baked on the hearth), golden brown with one distinct cut on the top. The bottom of the loaf is lightly dusted with semolina. The interior of the loaf is soft and shows the random open cell structure typical of well-fermented bread dough. The aroma of the bread is a combination of baked notes and yeast fermentation. A classically smooth flavor and a thin, golden crust are characteristic of this French bread loaf. Our French loaf is great to use as sandwich bread, the perfect accompaniment to a meal and delicious with roasted red peppers and goat cheese. La Brea Bakery continues its commitment to transitioning as many of its breads to non-GMO ingredients as possible. To date, over 90% of our breads have been converted to non-GMO and bear the Non-GMO Project Verified seal.
