If you’re looking for a simple and straightforward yerba mate, Pipore Sin Palo is the one. This variation, however, isn’t that similar to its traditional version of Pipore. So if you’re here hoping that it is, you might be disappointed. Pipore Sin Palo is its own mate with its own characteristics. After opening the packaging, you’re welcomed with a familiar aroma that reminds me of breakfast. I get hints of cereal, toasted bread, and blackberry jam. Very sweet and pleasant. On this Pipore’s packaging, it states that it has a more intense flavor due to its blend type. And as I’m drinking both Pipore Con Palo and Pipore Sin Palo side-by-side right now, I found this to be true. Compared to its original, this has more oomph to it. You can really feel its flavor and strength come out, whereas with the original, its flavor is much softer on the palate. et this whole wheat bread taste that takes the front seat, while some wood shavings, dirt, and sweet/sour tobacco mingle together in the background. As I work my way into the second half of the mate, it gradually becomes sweeter and sweeter. Pretty easy-going on the palate, Pipore Sin Palo is a straightforward mate with similar characteristics to its original, but with a stronger punch. I found this mate to do best in lower temperatures of around 140ºF (60ºC). Any higher and it brings out a strong sourness which I don’t like as you’re about to see… On the finish, Pipore Sin Palo still leaves behind a sour astringency that I can’t run away from. The more I keep sipping, the stronger it gets. And for me, it’s not the best taste in the world, but it is bearable. However, it is mostly composed of small leaves. Some an olive green color while others are toasted to a shade of brown. A small amount of dust and large stems are also present. Preparation is fairly easy. But because it’s mostly leaves, the mountain of mate can easily slide down so be careful. Pipore Sin Palo has a medium cycle. Its strength is also unwavering. It takes several refills before I start to notice a difference, and the change is subtle. First, it loses some of its body, then its flavor starts to soften and become like a green or black tea. I can usually get at least 3/4 of a liter out of this mate. When it comes to effects, this mate hits hard and it hits fast. I’m assuming it’s because of its leaf content, but every time I drink Pipore Sin Palo, I’m wired. Typically, the effects happen gradually, but this happens nearly within the first sip. Better focus, better relaxation, and better creativity are just a few of the effects I experience. It’s almost like it has me all over the place but in an organized fashion. It’s strange, but nice. I’d recommend drinking this whenever you need a good pick-me-up or before any physical activity.
